A Study on the Coming Background of the British National Health Services

Abstract

|
This study is intended to review the coming background of the British National Health Services(NHS). For the purpose, the health policy proposal in the Beveridge Report, the influence of the Second World War upon the NHS, and the debate on the war influence on the British welfare state were analysed. The results are as follows;
First, the Beveridge Report made an atmosphere for coming welfare state and introducing universal health services.
Second, war situations that need emergency medical services is a key factor to institutionalize universal medical systems(No war, no NHS).
Third, the fact that the Second World War is the most important cause of introducing the NHS was confirmed by critically review the debate on war influence on the welfare state.
